Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Atlas of 178 States and what is it for?

The Atlas of States is an interactive map of human feelings and experiences. Unlike simple lists, it gives you the ability to establish the nuances of differences to clarify your states, allowing you to work with them more effectively later. It is a tool for self-discovery: to work with your state, you must first name it accurately and feel it.

How does this Atlas differ from Plutchik's Wheel of Emotions?

Robert Plutchik's Wheel is a rigid academic model dividing feelings into binary polarities. Our Atlas is a fluid, more adaptable system. We view a state not as a static part of a machine, but as a dynamic movement of consciousness. There are no "good" or "bad" emotions here, and for each of the 178 states, we explore not only theory, but also bodily sensations, evolutionary meaning, cultural context, and a therapeutic way forward.

Can I use the Atlas to get rid of unwanted states?

The key is not to fight the feeling, but to stop the conflict. Tension and suffering do not stem from the emotion itself, but from the belief "I shouldn't feel this." The Atlas helps shift your focus from resistance to gentle presence and self-inquiry. When you become aware of your feeling and do not get involved in its dynamics, it transforms on its own.
