# Wholeness

<div class="quote">
    Wholeness is a perfection that is never completed.
</div>

Very often, in the spiritual world, people forget that they are still living on the earth. In the pursuit of high states, of release from pain, of reaching for the divine, the personality, the body and our relationships get forgotten — or, better said, written off. Such spirituality is dead. It is the fruit of a forever unfulfilled dream of detached bliss, in which both the world and the person themselves dissolve into nirvana.

In that idealized nirvana there are no forms, no movement, no life at all! Everything arises out of that Stillness, but having arisen, it never fully strives to return there. Because such a striving would be a striving toward disembodiment, and that is the antithesis of Life. Yet since Life, or Being, is All That Is, it cannot not be. The desire to be is its very nature — including the desire to be what you “are not yet.” **The eternal question of Life: what is it like to be the One That I Am?**

And so, once you have “become,” the only thing that remains is to “become” still more, and then more, and more, and more. For with every becoming, the possibility of a greater becoming opens up. In other words, Life always strives toward the increase of Life. Toward triumphant, unrestrained self-expression — toward creation.

This turbulent stream of creativity produces a multitude of experience which, spinning into vortices of consciousness, forms what we call an individuality, or a personality. The chief property of the psychological structure so produced is self-awareness and wholeness. Just as Being is one and knows that It Is, so all Its derivatives are whole and know that they are. And nevertheless, wholeness does not mean finality. **Perfection does not mean completion.** Completion is impossible, because the potential of creativity is inexhaustible. The more that has been created, the more that can still be created, and so on, without end.

Vortex upon vortex, Being expands through the creative activity of its precious fragments. And in this whirling storm of creation, the fragments themselves — individual, self-aware personalities — continually widen the borders of their consciousness, attaining ever new degrees of completeness, expressing ever new facets of their perfection.

This is how Life happens. Individual Life, and Life as a whole. **The striving toward new experience is the basic desire of All That Is.** It is the energy of life itself. It is curiosity and inquisitiveness, it is a passion for action, it is love seeking expression. It pushes the personality to keep going beyond whatever structure it has, however beautiful, lovely and pleasant that structure may be. Laying new paths for the unfolding of being — its own, and being as a whole.

<div class="quote">
    To renounce the personality is to renounce yourself.
</div>

Such a renunciation can never be fully carried out. All That Is creates individualities; it does not dissolve them. In fact, Life itself is the process of becoming Yourself — living out ever more of the magnificence of what we actually are.

Life happens on every level. Creation happens on every level. The smallest parts, like the largest, unfold in ever-increasing grandeur. Being continually expands the quality of its being-ness across all its countless aspects and possible manifestations.

And so, when we divide our existence into the personal and physical on one side and the spiritual and nirvanic on the other, we reject the very essence of what Life is, of what we are. We miss — and declare lower, wrong, inessential and unimportant — that wealth of experience which we so passionately longed to create and to feel. That wealth of experience without which the perception of blissful peace would be impossible in principle. Without drama, tension, contrast and movement, it is impossible to know peace, stillness and bliss. Without the personal, the impersonal is out of reach. **Without the parts, the Whole “is not.”** The experience of unified consciousness is possible only thanks to the individuality of our consciousness.

To realize your own nature as All That Is, your own wholeness, the unity of everything with everything — this is a magnificent, totally filling and enlivening experience. In it there is an immense creative potency, joy and love. In it the energy of Life fills you to the brim and pours over, creating still more Life within and around you.

If it is lived through consciously for the first time, it is a spiritual awakening, a moment of the deepest illumination of your true nature. After such an experience, individuality is not destroyed but transfigured. The personality is qualitatively enriched and gains new degrees of freedom, for now it has felt what it is like to be a unique pattern woven into the perfect fabric of Being, where there is not a single superfluous thread, not a single bad ornament.

Even a moment of such realization is capable of completely transforming a person and their view of Life. It also happens that such an experience lasts longer, and in some cases is felt almost continuously. But it is never the ending of life. Quite the opposite: it is the beginning of all life, it is the core of Life, out of which Life itself unfolds.

Often, when you touch this, it can seem that here it is — the completion. That there is nothing left to dream of, nothing left to desire. And then comes a quiet renunciation of desire and a withdrawal from all that variety of experience with which Life abounds. An attempt is made to preserve oneself in this sweet and quiet bliss, in the hope of standing still in that state forever. But how far Life is from any such standing still! Using spirituality to escape from any and all experience, we will in the end find ourselves without experience at all — including the experience of what we had imagined to be our highest and final goal.

But fortunately, such a “nothing” cannot last long, even at the level of individual consciousness, because what we actually are strives to be, and the experience of being requires embodiment, creation and change — in a word, it requires Life. Yes, the form of Life can change. It can become three-dimensional, or more multidimensional, then three-dimensional again, or stop manifesting physically altogether. But the forming of consciousness, the becoming of a personality, never ends — not in any of its lives.

There is no plane of Being where there is a final stop and growth ceases. Being is always joyful and inspired, filling again and again with waves of fresh astonishment at its creation. Creation that is aware of its own nature is joyful and inspired, filling again and again with waves of fresh astonishment at its new creation. One flows out of the other. Life is created out of Life in everlasting self-expression, always perfectly, gestalt after gestalt, and — never completely.
